The Free State health department reports that the woman gave birth on March 27 at a hospital in Kuruman, and then again on April 10 at the Universitas Academic Hospital in Bloemfontein.
There is no other information available from the Northern Cape and Free State health departments.
Netwerk24 reports that they have sent inquiries to these departments.
Mondli Mvambi, spokesperson for the Free State health department, said information about the case could not be communicated within a day.
Lulu Mxekezo, spokesperson for the Northern Cape health department, was also unable to comment.
Netwerk24 spoke to a medical doctor, who preferred to remain anonymous, about the matter.

According to this doctor, it is possible, although it is a very rare phenomenon.
He says that the woman may have been exposed to medical negligence for the second baby to remain undetected for so long.
“It is also important to note that this woman could only be discharged if her uterus had contracted properly – something that can happen right after birth. If not, it is a clear indication that there may have been medical negligence,” he said.
The mother was not yet ready to speak to the media.
